Vintage Christmas decorations have always been a favorite of mine. I remember a fantastic seasonal shop in Whitman Mass, where I lived as a child in the sixties. This place was simply magical. Imagine sparkly foil angels, bright colored lights, wreaths, ornaments, tree skirts etc, in a shop bursting at the seams, all of it "vintage" by today's standards, then times it by 10, and you get the picture. This place greatly influenced me to this day. Red and green were represented but not exclusive, every color was important and prolific. This was the era when the clay-mation Christmas movies were being made like "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer", and "Santa Claus is Coming to Town". Places like Dayton's department store in Minneapolis, and Edaville Railroad in Massachusetts during the holidays, were amazing, like Disneyland for the Holidays. Especially to an impressionable young child like me.
The faded chenille wreath above is probably older than the sixties, but it has the right base for a project. I came across a number of these and thought they needed a bit more pizazz. Gathering up all my holiday ephemera that I have been collecting throuth the years I went to town.

That's more like it don't you think?
I have a few more to do, but this one will have to be doubly special, ha ha. These chenille wreaths would also look great using felted wool ornaments but I just couldn't resist going for the sixties bling.
Of course these are available in the shop, and on our Web-Shop, {$47.00}.
Note: These are electrified, but turn on at your own risk. You must not have the light on when it is touching the wall or other flamable things, such as it's own paper base. Yikes!!
