Easter and Spring it seems are very early this year. Normally I would have had another couple of weeks to work on this holiday themed collection of vintage and new, ephemera and millinery goodies. But, no Easter is this month, March 27th to be exact. And today it is a very strange 68 degrees f. I am not complaining, I love having the windows open in March! Or any time of the year actually. But rest assured, I know exactly when the 4th of July will happen and I have plenty of time to come up with that collection.
Not normally a huge fan of purple, this lovely lavender hued vintage wallpaper had me thinking of Easter and spring. When I put it together with the yellow Anemones their lavender stamens just popped. So started this collection. I had just finished dying a bunch of silk velvet ribbons and the light lavender color is perfect.
Yes, I have created a cone for this collection, but I decided to use a paper mache base that can be covered with the wallpaper. I also found, in my personal stash this amazing vintage costumers sequin trim that I will share, and I added our neon lemon/lime crinkle wire from Germany to lead up to the trim. Thinking about a bunny merry-go-round there are 4 golden Dresden rabbits, and plumes of pretty narrow ribbon and lavender primroses. The handles are a sheer cotton organdy vintage ribbon that I have been hording. It is just too perfect not to include.
There is also enough of the sequin trim to make a festive headband using the included grosgrain ribbon and metal headband as a base.
