Where did the last week go? With all this gorgeous weather, the shop has been very busy. And I have a lot on my mind; The future of the shop, our new business Jorgensen Works, and yes, I am finally putting together a book. Not to mention that we are putting together more items to wholesale to other shops.
With all this going on in my brain, today the weather report was slooowww down. Very cozy and gloomy, I actually like it. Instead of forging ahead like a maniac that I can be, I decided to chill out and forget about those decisions for a day and, omg I am not going to say it.... yes... bake. Me? Bake? Yup, really, how about a peach pie?
Normally i just buy some pie crusts, but today I thought; "how hard can it be? Isn't there a saying; easy as pie?" I can dooo this! Thank goodness I purchased my very first food processor last fall, when we were doing the farm box thing. With instructions and pie crust recipe in hand, I followed them very closely. Right now I actually have 2 discs of dough chilling in the fridge!!
Just slice and dice the peaches, pile it high on the crusts, add some flour and sugur (?) I should call my friend Christine Hoffman, she has a blog "Pies and Aprons" don't ya know. Hey, where is my apron? My jeans are already covered in flour, next time... not to worry, I'll get there.
What is up with this? The recipe makes sure you put in chilled butter, shortening and ice water, then chill the dough discs for at least an hour. But when I start to roll it out, it seems like it is too cold. I like patchwork but I don't think I am supposed to patch my pie crusts.
The crust was very flaky, so flaky in fact it would not even hold together at all. It just flaked all over the place, no worries a peach cobbler is nice too. Hmm its also kind of runny and I did not put enough sugar in it but the ice-cream was amazing!
Tomorrow it's back to crazy, or I maybe I'll get a chance to have some studio time. I have been working on some purses....or maybe a foot-stool or more head wraps?
